Meta Brings Its Muse AI Agent to Singapore: 8 Partners From Shopee to Grab, Always Asking Before It Buys

In our posts on Gemini agent and Claude Duet, we looked at how AI agents are moving from chat tools to assistants that do the work for you. This week, that trend reached Southeast Asia: on October 28, 2026, Meta brought its personal AI agent Muse to Singapore, connected to apps people in the region use every day, such as Shopee, Grab and Lazada.

What stands out is not just a new market. In the US, Muse was blocked by Amazon for accessing its store without permission. In Singapore, Meta took the opposite approach: launching with official partners and always asking before it acts.

1. What Muse can do in Singapore

Muse is available on iOS, Android and the web, free for most everyday uses, with paid plans for people who need more. According to Meta, there are 8 partners at launch.

  • Shopping: research products and compare prices across Shopee and Lazada before you decide to buy. ShopBack suggests cashback offers and dining deals.

  • Groceries and dining: through GrabMart and Grab Dine Out, Muse helps plan grocery runs, prepares a basket, checks the total and delivery time, then asks you before placing the order.

  • Travel: connections with Singapore Airlines, Agoda, Trip.com and Klook to find flights, hotels and experiences. Agoda says it is the first travel platform in the world to connect its AI assistant with Muse.

  • A staged rollout: some connectors will arrive after launch. Meta has not disclosed user numbers, paid plan pricing in Singapore or a timeline for the remaining features.

2. The lesson from the US: agents must be invited in

Before Singapore, Muse hit its first major conflict. Since September 20, 2026, Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on Amazon.com, as GeekWire reported.

  • No notice: Amazon says Meta did not tell it that Muse would access its store.

  • No AI disclosure: Muse browsed Amazon like a regular shopper, without identifying itself as an AI agent.

  • A dispute over credentials: Amazon says Muse retains customer login details. Meta counters that the agent cannot see passwords or payment methods, because they are held in Muse Secure VM, a separate cloud computer the agent can use but not read.

Meta's approach in Singapore shows it has learned from this: instead of letting itself in, Muse goes through connections the partner apps provide. That is also what most e-commerce platforms want: AI agents are welcome, but they have to come through the front door.

The Agenorix view: get ready for customers that are AI agents

In our post on Google AI Mode, we saw AI answering in place of the search results page. Muse is the next step: AI does not just read, it compares, prepares the basket and makes the booking for the user. For any website or app that sells, the "visitor" may soon be an agent.

  1. Open a front door for agents: offer an official connection (an API or MCP) limited to the actions you allow, instead of letting agents scrape your site.

  2. Clear data that is easy to compare: prices, stock, delivery fees and delivery times need to be consistent and structured, because an agent will put you next to competitors in seconds.

  3. People approve the important steps: every payment, outgoing message or data change needs a human confirmation step.

  4. Agents identify themselves and are logged: know which agent a request comes from, on whose behalf, and record every action. This is how we work in our MCP integration projects, such as an internal management system where 100% of data changes are recorded in the audit log.

Where to start?

Pick the task your customers do most often on your website, such as checking a price, checking stock or booking a slot, and ask yourself: if an AI agent wanted to do this for a customer, is there an official way for it to do so, and would you know it was an agent?
